Metal parts: in-house production or subcontracting?
Bogdan Hurezeanu

Compare a machine investment with the cost and capacity of the complete production route, not only the purchase price.

Assessing in-house production

Predictable repeat demand may justify reviewing internal capacity. Include operators, programming, tooling, maintenance, space, utilities, inspection and downstream operations.

Assessing subcontracting

For prototypes, variable batches or parts requiring several processes, a finished-part quotation allows comparison without investing in every operation.

Compare the same part

Use the same revision, quantity, tolerances, finish and delivery date. Consider scrap, packaging and transport. Do not compare machines solely by brand or power.

Start with the technical package

HABA Research can review drawing-based production involving cutting, bending, welding, CNC machining and finishing. Send files and quantity; the route, availability and quotation are confirmed for the project.
