Compare suppliers against the finished part, technical package and delivery conditions. A price per bend does not describe the entire order.
Material and thickness
Specify grade, thickness and surface condition. The supplier should confirm compatibility with the process and available tooling.
Geometry and tooling access
Send STEP and a dimensioned PDF. Radii, short flanges, holes near bends and bending sequence should be reviewed before cutting.
Functional tolerances
Mark dimensions that determine assembly. Agree tolerances on the finished part and the inspection method; unnecessary precision increases cost.
First part and drawing revision
For a new series, define first-part inspection and identify the drawing revision. Agree design changes before production.
Included operations
Clarify whether material, cutting, deburring, bending, welding, finish and inspection are included. Compare the same quantity and documentation.
Lead time and repeatability
Request a confirmed date for the actual batch and conditions for repeat orders. Material availability and setup affect scheduling.
Packaging and transport
Identify visible surfaces and destination. Include part protection and transport when comparing total delivered cost.
