Select the process around the part, not the label

TIG, MIG/MAG and laser welding are not interchangeable for every project. Material, thickness, joint access, seam length, appearance, batch volume and acceptable distortion all influence the choice. Correct edge preparation and stable fixturing can matter as much as the process itself. For visible assemblies, the drawing should identify surfaces that require grinding and faces that must remain protected. For functional parts, specify the dimensions that must be checked after welding and any installation requirements.
